Support the North is a campaign aimed at bringing awareness, attention and action to the serious lack of animal wellness resources in the North.
From animal transport, spay/neuter and wellness clinics, feeding programs and resource delivery, Support the North is the collaborative effort of many dedicated partners, working together to make tangible and meaningful change in the North – united in creating healthy communities for animals and people.
Support the North is comprised of three main areas:
Animal North Network
A network of individuals, organizations and communities who collectively work to bring awareness to the challenge of Northern pet overpopulation and work in collaboration with Northern communities towards a common goal – to save pets’ lives.
Northern Dog Program
A lack of basic animal wellness services has led to uncontrolled growth of dog populations across Northern Canada.
These dogs need resources, and support, and everyone can play an active role in creating healthy communities for pets and people.
Get involved – Northern rural and urban communities need your support!
The “one health” model recognizes the unity and interconnectedness of people and pet health as they relate to each other and the environment. Through consultation with Northern communities, strategic plans are created that follow the one health model and utilize various complimentary animal wellness services.
